My work is inspired by monotony, yearning, innocence, obsession, and the lines between them. I am drawn to the simplicities that define girl world—the intimate moments of getting ready, of doing makeup together for hours, which seem mundane but can bond a pair of best friends for life. My images and films feel like the fading sun on the final days of August before school starts again; dreamy and ephemeral, frivolous yet independent, celebrating the delicate hopeful desperation of adolescence and femininity. With influences from fashion media and narrative storytelling, I work with gesture, the body, and that in relation to environment and sisterhood.
